Who can package relocation expenses?
You could salary package relocation expenses if you work for a:
- private organisation
- government department or agency
- charity or other not-for-profit organisation
- public or private not-for-profit hospital
- private school, club, association or religious institution
and your employer offers this as part of your workplace benefits program.
What exactly can I package?
You could salary package the cost of storage and removal of household items and the cost of connecting your utilities, such as electricity, gas and telephone to your new home. Other expenses including stamp duty, advertising legal fees, agent commissions and borrowing expenses are circumstance-specific.
If you're renting, you could salary package the cost of temporary rental accommodation for both your family at your former home and yourself in your new location.
