Honda Australia is promising its smallest car will deliver more than you expect.

The Japanese brand has confirmed local details for the cheeky-looking and pint-sized Super-ONE electric hatchback of its official arrival in showrooms in October.

Customers can now order the Super-ONE, which will be offered in a single specification but with the choice of full body colour or two-tone paintwork, with prices starting at $36,900 drive away.

Honda says that just 130 units will be available for the rest of the year despite receiving more than 6,500 expressions of interest – exceeding the pre-sale response it had to the high-performance Civic Type R.

The Super-ONE is Honda’s first dedicated electric car and revives the look and feel of the 1980s Honda City Turbo II with its boxy proportions complemented by flared wheel arches, a roof spoiler and black alloy wheels.

The drive away price tag positions the Honda Super-ONE above the fleet of small Chinese-built EVs like the BYD ATTO 1, Geely EX2 and GAC Aion UT, but undercuts the Hyundai INSTER which costs from $39,000 plus on-roads.

Measuring just 3.5 metres long and tipping the scales at 1,093kg, the compact EV runs a 29.6kWh battery pack good for a claimed 253km. DC fast charging capability is said to allow the battery to charge from 15 to 80 per cent in around 30 minutes.

It also features several drive modes, including Boost Mode which temporarily increases peak output from 47kW to 70kW while maintaining 162Nm of torque, plus has a simulated seven-speed transmission and active sound control, which generates an engine-like soundtrack inside the cabin.

Honda Super-ONE pre-orders are now open at Honda dealers across the country, with first customer deliveries began on October 1. Initial supply will be limited before additional stock arrives during early 2027.
