Credit Card Repayments – What Can I Claim?
You may be able to salary package credit card repayments that are paid by you or your spouse/partner.
What you can claim
- Credit card repayments.
- Credit card payments paid by you or your spouse/de facto partner.
What you can't claim
- Cash advances that form part of a credit card balance.
- Expenses paid entirely by someone other than you or your spouse/partner.
Documentation Requirements
To process a Living Expenses – Credit Card Repayment claim, you must provide acceptable evidence that confirms the expense and payment details.
Acceptable Documentation
Preferred evidence

A complete credit card statement showing:
- Cardholder name (customer or spouse/partner)
- Payment amount
- Transaction details including any repayments made
Alternative evidence

The statement summary/front page showing:
- Customer or spouse/partner's name
- Amount paid
Note: If only the statement summary is provided, you must be able to supply the full statement if requested by Maxxia, your employer, or the ATO for audit purposes.
Documentation That Cannot Be Accepted
The following are not acceptable:

Credit card statements that do not show:
- The customer or spouse/partner's name; and
- The amount paid.

Scenario-Based Examples
Can I claim my monthly credit card repayment?
Rachel makes a monthly repayment on her credit card and submits her credit card statement showing her name and the amount paid. The expense is eligible because the repayment was paid by Rachel and supported by proof of payment.*
My partner's name is on the credit card statement. Can I still claim the expense?
Michael's partner makes a credit card repayment, and the statement is in their name. Michael submits the statement showing his partner's name and the amount paid. The expense is eligible because repayments made by a spouse or de facto partner can be claimed when the expense otherwise meets the benefit requirements.*
I withdrew cash using my credit card and later repaid the balance. Can I claim the repayment?
Daniel withdraws cash using his credit card and later repays the balance. He submits the credit card statement showing the cash advance and repayment. The expense is not eligible because cash advances are excluded from this benefit.*
Jordan paid a bill for me using their credit card. Can I claim the expense?
Jordan pays a bill for Priya using Jordan's credit card. Priya submits the statement as part of her claim. The expense is not eligible because it was paid entirely by someone other than Priya or her spouse/de facto partner.*
My credit card statement only shows the payment amount and does not include my name. Can I claim it?
Liam submits a credit card statement summary that shows the payment amount but does not show his name or his spouse/de facto partner's name. The claim cannot be processed because the minimum documentation requirements have not been met.*
