Michael Kay

Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director

Michael joined Maxxia as Chief Executive Officer in May 2008 and was appointed Managing Director in July 2008. He previously held the role of CEO with insurance company AAMI. During his time at AAMI the company grew to hold more than 3.4 million policies. 

Michael started his career as a private practice lawyer and has ten years' legal experience.

Mark Blackburn

Chief Financial Officer and Company Secretary

Mark joined Maxxia as the McMillan Shakespeare Group Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and Company Secretary in October 2011.

He has over 17 years' experience as a CFO in both listed and unlisted companies in the manufacturing, mining and financial services sectors. Immediately before joining Maxxia he was CFO at iselect, a comparison website and online insurance broker and prior to that was CFO at IOOF a listed funds management business.

Mark is both a CPA and a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Group Executive - Customers and Corporate Affairs

Peter joined Maxxia as a Business Analyst in April 2000 and was responsible for product research and development, change and project management, which led to his appointment as Manager of New & Emerging Business. He became Head of Operations in 2003 before assuming the role of Group Executive - Salary Packaging with Maxxia and RemServ. In his current role as Group Executive - Customers and Corporate Affairs, Peter's focus is on the acquisition and retention of major employer customers and overseeing the group's corporate affairs responsibilities.

He has previously worked in a senior customer and project management capacity with Colonial Ltd, Virtual Financial Services Division.

Chief Operating Officer

Geoff joined Maxxia in December 2000. During this period, he has held various senior management positions and is currently a key member of the Executive Team responsible for the day-to-day management of salary packaging administration, novated leasing facilitation and asset management services.

With over 20 years' experience within the insurance and finance industry, Geoff has held senior positions from Sales to General management in major financial institutions such as NZI Insurance, Rentworks Ltd, Cendant Australasia, before joining Maxxia as National Manager - Business Solutions.

Geoff holds an Executive MBA from the University of Sydney.

Abe Tomas

Managing Director, Fleet and Financial Products

Abe Tomas joined Maxxia as Group Executive - Fleet and Novated in April 2010 and is currently Managing Director, Fleet and Financial Products. He has over 20 years' experience in operational leasing, asset management and novated leasing. He has also had extensive global experience in the finance, motor vehicle and insurance industries.

Abe is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants and former member of the Securities Institute of Australia and the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Abe assisted the McMillan Shakespeare Group with acquiring the Interleasing and Holden Leasing businesses in early 2010.

Group Executive - Innovation

Andrew joined Maxxia in March 2009 as Group Executive - Insurance Services, with primary responsibility to develop a product niche for Maxxia insurance. In his current role as Group Executive - Innovation, Andrew is responsible for developing product and service innovation to ensure the continued success of the business.

Andrew has over 20 years' insurance industry experience in which he has previously held numerous senior management roles including state and product management with AAMI and that of Executive Manager of Strategy and Communications at RACQ Insurance in Queensland where he was responsible for corporate planning and internal communication.

Simon Fortune

Group Executive - Integration

Simon has been working with Maxxia in a variety of roles since October 2008.

He has over 25 years of experience in senior finance and management roles in the financial services and insurance industries. 

Prior to joining Maxxia, Simon was General Manager, Financial Services for the Promina Direct Insurance Division, responsible for providing finance, reporting and risk services for major retail insurance companies in Australia. This followed a 15 year career in senior finance, strategy and operational roles with AAMI.

Simon is a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Suzanne Shepherd

Group Executive - Human Resources

Suzanne joined Maxxia in May 2009. She has in excess of 15 years senior management experience in the HR field. Her wealth of experience lies in translating high level business objectives into people development strategies with lasting business impact. 

Her professional background over the past two decades includes education, law publishing and financial services. She previously held the role of Head of Human Resources at AAMI.

Daniel joined Maxxia in July 2008. He is responsible for developing and aligning business systems capabilities and processes within Maxxia. Daniel has more than ten years' strategic analysis and project management experience.

Group Executive - Marketing

Fiona joined Maxxia in 2004. She has more than 20 years' marketing experience in various industries including advertising and financial services. She is responsible for strategic and tactical marketing and communications for Maxxia and RemServ, with a focus on brand positioning and customer awareness and education.

She has been responsible for reinvigorating the brand under the new name 'Maxxia' which better reflects the company's future business direction.

Ron Steiner

Group Executive - Customer and Public Relations

Ron joined Maxxia in July 2008. His primary responsibility is to develop and grow a strong and deep alignment with Maxxia's business partners.

Ron has over 25 years' experience in management, sport and education. He previously held senior executive roles with Australian Cricket and Australian Rugby and ran his own successful consultancy. Ron is on the board of the Australian Drug Foundation and has lectured at RMIT, Deakin and Victoria Universities' post-graduate Schools of Management and Marketing.

Stewart Creighton

Group Executive - NSW

Stewart joined Maxxia in April 2012 to take up the responsibility for overseeing McMillan Shakespeare Group's NSW operations.

With 19 years in banking and finance, Stewart has broad experience in business and institutional banking including senior leadership positions at Commonwealth Bank and Medfin, a division of NAB. 

Stewart holds a Bachelor of Economics and Master of Applied Finance degrees and has extensive experience establishing new business units and leading teams in high growth and change environments.
