Salary Packaging
Salary Packaging offers a variety of benefits for you to choose from. Some of the most popular of these are listed below.
Disability/income protection insurance
You can insure yourself against loss of earnings as a result of illness or disability, should something happen that stops you from carrying out your work duties.
It’s extra peace of mind for you. We can pay your premiums directly (simply provide us with a copy of your policy and the cost of your premiums) or reimburse your salary packaging account once you have made a payment and sent us a claim form and receipt.
Remote Area Housing Benefits
If you are an eligible employee living in a remote area in employer provided or private housing, you can salary package mortgage repayments or stamp duty and legal fees if you buy a house there.
Where private housing is salary packaged, FBT at a concession rate will apply.
You will need to provide your housing loan statement or other supporting documents.
We can pay your mortgage directly to your finance provider, or reimburse your nominated bank account.
Home office expenses
You can salary package the cost of items such as stationery, a leased or rented computer, a filing cabinet, fax machine or other business equipment if you work from home or have a home office.
Interest-only investment loans
You can salary package the cost of an interest-only payment on an investment loan with a recognised financial institution.
You will need to supply a copy of the loan contract and your bank statement.
We can then make regular payments directly to your investment loan account.
Briefcase, PDAs, calculators and electronic diaries
Buy a new briefcase (to be used primarily for business purposes) and you can salary package the cost. You are able to salary package one per FBT year (1 April – 31 March).
Other items such as mobile phones, PDAs and electronic diaries can be purchased with pre-tax dollars if they are used primarily for work. Again, you are able to salary package one per FBT year.
Airline lounge memberships
You are able to salary package the cost of your airport lounge membership – a great benefit for people who fly regularly. Just submit a claim form and your receipt and we will reimburse you.
Financial Advice fees (for advice related to salary packaging)
Yes, you can even salary package your salary packaging-related financial advice from an Accountant or Financial Adviser.
Just submit a claim form and your receipt and we will reimburse you.
Additional Superannuation
You can save more for your retirement by salary packaging additional super contributions, and topping up the Superannuation Guarantee payments your employer makes on your behalf.
Just tell us how much you would like to contribute and we will pay your super fund directly, until you tell us otherwise.
A 15% contribution tax applies to additional super payments; this is deducted by your Fund and paid to the ATO.
Tools of Trade
You can salary package the cost of any tools of the trade that you may buy. This includes any equipment or tools that you use in your job. They can include manually operated or power hand tools.
Laptops
A laptop is exempt from Fringe Benefits Tax (FBT) if it is used primarily for work purposes.
You can salary package one laptop each FBT year (1 April – 31 March) and pay for it with your pre-tax salary.
You can either buy your laptop outright or on credit and we will reimburse you, or rent it and then salary package your payments.
